Red Dot Design Museum – Singapore

I always look forward to weekends – I’m sure everybody too! With the current haze situation here in Singapore, I am bound to stay at home. However, just thinking of being contained indoors on a weekend makes me sad (doing the puss in boots look he he he). Well, I guess it’s the best time to explore this city’s museums.

First stop is the Red Dot Design Museum  – who could miss this museum? It stands true to its name. A red building (red and proud!) in the middle of Maxwell Road just a few meters away from Tanjong Pagar MRT station.

It’s an interesting place for young and hippy people who are very enthusiastic on what’s new and in trend. Not young and hippy? Need not worry everyone is welcome!

This museum showcases upcoming designs on gadgets, accessories,  furnitures, home fixtures and even storyboards.

So, if you want to keep up on what’s hot in the market, head down to this spot and bring out the creativity in you!

Before leaving, you might want to swing by their shop for some interesting and unique finds.

And oh, the place is a bit small so you would most probably be taking around just an hour or less to go through the items on exhibit.

Done wandering around the museum and still want more?! The curators surely know how to keep the artsy fartsy side of you on frenzy mode. They came up with a mobile application – Design District. An app you could use to continue exploring the area around the museum. Directions on where to find public arts, nearby themed cafes and restaurants, buildings and architectures were available and come in handy.

Download that app and enjoy using upon stepping out of the museum. For the not so arts fan, give this place and app a chance, who knows it might awaken the creative side of you!
