Everything With Fries – Singapore

What could’ve been a better side for grilled, fried and baked dishes? For me, nothing beats good old fries – whatever form, shape, size and name it’s called. It always makes my meal more appetizing and filling (for sure! calories! carbs!).

When my hubby and I was out looking for a place to have lunch, we stumbled upon this little cafe in Holland Village, tucked almost at the end of Lorong Mambong. Their mains all come with fries!!! What a joyful find for us!

The place has good amount of patronage, both from locals and expats, hence it’s always busy and packed at lunch – and for sure during dinner too!

Fortunately, a group just left and the table was made available for us. Excited that we didn’t have to wait for a seat. We hurriedly settled in our cozy corner and scanned their menu.

The first item we ordered? Dessert! It was very smart of them to put the dessert selection in front – I easily gave in and ordered ‘chilled pandan souffle’. If not, I would be too full to even think of sweets right after having our main course. This souffle is not the usual baked stuff, it is chilled hence, better to inform the order taker to serve it for later.

For our mains we had ‘miso baked king salmon’ and ‘tandoori chicken sandwich’. Both had different flavored fries that complement the dish and make it more look and taste like a treat. The chicken came with smokey sea salt fries, while it is complementary with the meat, I find it rather plain and simple. On the other hand, wasabi fries is matched with the baked salmon. The sweet and earthy taste of miso plus the hot kick from wasabi seasoning makes it a ridiculously good combination and yeah it is oozing with flavor!

For our sweet ending, we had our souffle served. We didn’t waste a blink and dig straight to it. Since it is chilled, it felt like I’m eating an ice cream. With right amount of sweetness from pandan, the smoothness of the milk froth and nuttiness of sesame brittle – if I may say, somewhat a taste of heaven!

For meals this good, I didn’t mind it being a bit pricey. Overall, we enjoyed the food, service and ambience. We will definitely be back!
